Satellite Cinema is a 16mm film screening series for kids taking place monthly on Saturday afternoons. This program highlights the New York Public Library’s extensive holdings with additional support from independent distributors of artists’ films. Programming will include early cinema, silent films, animation, and experimental work. Live music will be performed during silent films. In Spring 2020, following the series will be a cameraless 16mm film animation workshop for kids.

An animated cartoon in which Mr. Magoo, accompanied by his nephew Waldo, accidentally drives his new automobile under water and fails to realize that he is surrounded by marine life.
Tricks of Our Trade, Walt Disney, 1957, 26 mins.

Powers of Ten by Charles Eames, 1968, 8 mins.
Presents a linear view of the universe from the human scale, to the sea of galaxies, to the nucleus of a carbon atom. Demonstrates the powers of ten using an image, a narration, and a dashboard to give a clue to the relative size of things and to show what the addition of another zero to any number means.
